Pertussis - Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) are tracking a rise in pertussis cases in Westminster, Arvada and the surrounding communities.  Pertussis is an illness also known as Whooping Cough. JCPH and Jefferson Academy are asking that if any of your students are experiencing symptoms of Pertussis, that you please contact your medical provider for direction before sending your student back to school. Symptoms of Pertussis include a new cough lasting more than 7 days, especially if it includes coughing fits, vomiting after coughing or a "whoop" or "whistling" sound. If your student or anyone in your family is experiencing these symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider right away.
